Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Whew! I’ve registered!
Now what happens?

What’s the Board doing?
Immediately after the last registration date, your board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season. When this is completed, the uniforms will be ordered and the coaches will be notified.

When do the coaches get their teams?
Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters in mid August.

When do the players get called?
Teams may begin practice on or after mid-August. The coaches will call the players usually from early to mid August. They will give you all the information you will need in regards to practice times and location. Each coach sets his/her own practice days, time and location. The practice fields are will be determined by permits and availability and may include Mason Park, Lawrence Middle School, Chatsworth Park North, and maybe others.

It’s after August 15 and my child has not been called. What do I do?
Please do not panic if you see teams practicing and your child has not been called. Not all teams begin practice at the same time. Some divisions have team formations later than others due to coaching commitments and securing the right number of players for balanced teams. Also, some coaches may be on vacation during the summer months. However, you may feel free to call the hotline or email contact listed on the website, www.ayso795.org.

Can I request the same team with my child’s friend?
Carpool requests are never guaranteed. However, up to U8, we will try our hardest to accommodate these requests. For divisions U10 & up, carpool requests cannot be honored because they disrupt the balance of the teams.

What else does my child need?
The registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) supplemental accident insurance and team and individual pictures.

In addition, your child should have soccer cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball (size 3: U6-U8, size 4: U10-U12, size 5: U14 & up) and a water bottle.

How often are practices and games?
Practices are held at least once a week but possibly more for the older divisions and based on coach’s preference. Field location and time will vary by coach. Games will generally be on Saturdays with the first game on September 11, 2010. Games for divisons U10 and under will be held at Lawrence Middle School. The older divisions could play at Mason Park or another park if it is not yet ready.

What if I cannot make it to the practice times determined by my coach?
Speak with the coach directly to see how best to handle this situation. If a team change is necessary, the coach and the division coordinator will work with you.

Refund?
Players withdrawing prior to June 30, 2010 will be issued a full refund. After July 1, 2010, NO REFUNDS will be issued except for the following reasons: 1) Child is injured and unable to play; or 2) Child has moved out of the area. All requests for a refund must be submitted in writing and mailed to the P. O. Box listed on the website, www.ayso795.org.

Late registration?
Late registration begins after June 30, 2010. We take late registration applications until the middle of the season. Late Registration fees increase to $155/child with no sibling or Spring player discounts. The check will be held and only deposited if the child is registered.

Am I required to volunteer?
AYSO is run by a group of volunteers, most with full-time jobs. In order to make this a meaningful experience for our children, improve the region, and expand the programs available to them, it is critical that every parent does something to help. There are opportunities that take more time and others that take less time. For the older divisions, children will not get to participate in playoffs unless there is a certain level of participate. So, start early and ask how you can help.

Please Remember…..
AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Above all, be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees mistakes and weaknesses.
